Jock Safari Lodge, the first private lodge in the heart of Africa's premier wildlife reserve, the Kruger National Park is situated on 6 000 hectares in the southern bushveld area of the park at the confluence of the Mitomeni and Biyamiti rivers.
Screened by lush trees and reed walls, twelve thatched suites, offer guests luxurious privacy with gracious old-world elegance surrounded by unspoilt wilderness. Each luxury suite has king or twin beds with a canopy of white netting, as well as a plunge pool, Victorian ball and claw bath, his and her vanities and an outdoor shower. The lodge also homes a superb spa - one of the best in the Mantis Spa Collection. It is fully equipped with therapy and relaxation rooms, hydrotherapy bath, steam room and sauna. The lodge has exclusive traversing rights in an area that is regarded as one of the best in the Kruger Park for its Big Five sightings. The romance and elegance of the past are reflected in this luxury lodge. The theme is set by Sir Percy Fitzpatrick's animal classic Jock of the Bushveld, a story written at the time of South Africa's first gold rush. The camp combination of elements of the colonial past and indigenous Zulu and Shangaan cultures. Experienced rangers and trackers conduct 4x4 drives in the Mornings and evenings. The concession is regarded as one of the best in the Kruger for its Big Five sightings, which include that of elephants enjoying a morning mud bath in the Biyamiti River, a sea of horns in the grass as the buffalo rest escaping the heat of the day, as well as lions feasting on fresh kill. A good vantage point can be chosen at dusk for more wildlife viewing or, en route back to the lodge, when nocturnal animals such as leopard, hyena and lion are often seen. Sundowners can also be enjoyed at the lodge while tales of the bush are retold to give listeners a glimpse of what this wilderness has to offer.
