Mfangano Island Camp is an oasis of tranquillity, lapped by the waters of Lake Victoria and shaded by giant fig trees.
Mfangano Island is only accessible by lightaircraft - an adventure in itself. Landing on a dusty airstrip, it's a
short ride by speedboat to the camp.
The buildings are in the local Luo tribal style, with walls of smoothed mud and clay and roofs made of thatch and banana leaves.
Accommodation is in six rooms and they are all set close to the water's edge. The rooms are decorated with local handicrafts and the bathrooms have modern
fittings finished in local stone. For lazing in the sunshine, each room
has a private veranda with sunbeds.
