As the Zambezi River crashes 100 m into a chasm stretching 1,7 km in length, one of the world's most spectacular waterfalls is created, the Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mosi-oa-Tunya or "The Smoke that Thunders" was how the local people described it and explorers were equally spellbound - "Scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight" wrote Sir David Livingstone, the first European to explore the area in 1855.

More
about Victoria Falls
The official language is English, spoken widely throughout the region. Cuisine served at the lodges is typically international with a local twist. Visitors should try nsima, a steamed cornmeal mash, served with a meat or vegetable sauce and the locally brewed chibuku and Umunkoyo.
The towns on either side of the Falls, Livingstone in Zambia and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, have also become the undisputed adventure capitals of Southern Africa. Visitors can fly over the Falls in light aircraft, helicopters, parachutes and microlights, bungee jump off the Victoria Falls Bridge or White Water Raft the Batoka Gorge rapids. River-boarding, jet boating and abseiling also cater to the adventure seeker, whilst calmer stretches of the Zambezi can be navigated by canoe. Cultural villages and local curio markets, as well as horse and elephant back safaris also draw many visitors.
Wildlife is to this region what Table Mountain is to Cape Town: you simply can?t leave without seeing it. Even if you only spend an afternoon on a game drive in the nearby Zambezi or Mosi-oa-Tunya National Parks, you will experience at least some of the thrill and wonder unique to the African safari. The Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, located near Livingstone offers visitors spectacular gorge scenery including the eastern section of the Falls, a well stocked game area and a protected group of white rhino, the only rhino to be found in Zambia after heavy poaching in the 1970?s and 1980?s. Day trips into the Chobe National Park can also be arranged from the Falls.
Should you however wish to venture further into the wilderness, The Falls provides the ideal springboard for travel into Namibia, Botswana and Zambia, where we are able to offer destinations that include the Lower Zambezi, South Luangwa and Kafue National Parks.
