Shamwari Game Reserve, situated in the malaria-free Eastern Cape province of South Africa, is home to the coveted Big Five and has been voted the World's Leading Safari and Game Reserve for ten consecutive years.

DAY OF ARRIVAL

• Guest arrival between 14h00 and 15h00, meet and greet, lodge transfers and orientation to the processes of becoming a Guide at Shamwari Game Reserve.
• An afternoon introductory game drive which includes a discussion on the history of Shamwari, game, as well as procedures and ethics.
  

DAILY PROGRAMME

Day 1

• Morning shooting practice, including safety procedures and target shooting.
  
• Afternoon game drive with emphasis on approaching potentially animals, warning signs, escape routes and basic safety principles when in a vehicle.
  
• Evening dinner and relaxation.
  

Day 2

• Walking safari procedures, considerations, safety and group control followed by a walk control followed by a walk concentrating on tracking spoor, dung and insect identification.
  
• Afternoon game drive aimed on birding.
  
• Fly camp sleep out, African barbeque, night drive astronomy and folklore stories.
  

Day 3

• Walking safari from fly camp back to base camp - with emphasis on direction finding and safety.
  
• Return to lodge for refreshments
  
• Guest departure by 11h00
